In case you missed it, Wendy's Philippines recently lit up our social media feeds when they opened a new branch at the Phoenix Gas Station along Sucat Road, Parañaque. This Southie, along with fellow One South peeps (TigaSouth Ka Ba and The Lowkey Hubadera), couldn't resist but to go and check out what all the hype was about.
This particular Wendy's is open 24/7, and functions merely as a drive-thru, takeout nook, and delivery hub: it's literally just a kitchen and a counter with ample parking space! They have 3 slots assigned for customers getting food to-go, plus allow a 15-minute parking time for those doing so. We also noticed a bunch of Grab and foodpanda riders, either ordering food or waiting for orders with their bikes parked at a designated area, right beside the drive-thru lane.

It was a pretty cool experience being able to get your burgers-nuggets-and-fries fix conveniently and safely. I wish more restos--if they can afford it--can adopt this idea, as this can help them save on operational costs in the long term, and also increase foot traffic without compromising the healthy and safety of their crew and their guests. If you ask this Southie--having seen first-hand how the food & beverage industry struggled significantly since the pandemic hit--what Wendy's did here is sheer genius!
