Thanks to Saudi kids turned Southie peeps for missing authentic Middle Eastern food so bad, of course, they felt compelled to bring it down South!😄

Having been born and raised in the Middle East and moving permanently in the Philippines during her teenage years, Reg noticed there were not enough options for authentic Arab cuisine here in the South. After getting wind of Shawarmanila thru a Tiktok post, she decided to check it out and made the long trip to Visayas Ave!😮‍💨 Fortunately, the long and early drive was worth it because she loved it so much she decided to partner with her boyfriend, brother, and sister-in-law and put up their own branch in BF Resort Village! WOOT!🙌🏽

Here is everything we tried in Shawarmanila - Las Piñas and what Southie Chezca had to say about them (with a few sound'bites' from Southie Donna):

🌯 Shawarma Wrap — It’s a wrap star (That’s their tagline)
🍗 Chicken Shawarma - ₱130: Most loved in the Middle East, this is also a bestseller in Shawarmanila. The classic doner-grilled Arabic spiced chicken, wrapped in pita bread or kubos, comes together with fries, lettuce and their OG garlic sauce. The spiced chicken paired with the garlic sauce gives a flavor explosion in every bite!

🥩 Beef Shawarma - ₱140: Slow-cooked Arabic spiced Beef, wrapped in kubos, lettuce, fries and garlic sauce. Warm and with a bit of a hint of spice, this is a classic that you should try.

🍖 Kebab Shawarma - ₱150: Another bestseller, Kebab is a grilled Arabic spiced minced beef skewer, wrapped in kubos, lettuce, fries and garlic sauce. It’s juicy, and very flavorful because of the spices. Southie Donna's personal favorite! It's just a new experience to her because she always has the regular beef shawarma in other places. So gewd!

🍚 Kabsa Rice Meal — Have a rice day!
🍖 Beef Kebab Rice - ₱249: If you love the Kebab Shawarma, you will love the rice version of it. Comes with onion sumac and grilled tomatoes.

🍗 Chicken Kabsa Rice - ₱249: Truly the bestseller, if you love chicken with the bone-in, this is for you. Very flavorful, Arabic spiced chicken leg quarter, grilled freshly daily, served with onion sumac and grilled tomatoes.

🥩 Beef Shawarma Rice - ₱240: My personal favorite! Spiced beef chunks, very soft and tender, served with garlic sauce on top and some lettuce. Walang wala sa usual na shawarma rice sa mall huhu pls. Southie Donna and Aly seemed to also agree with me!😉

🫓 Kubos/Pita Meal — Fill it, fold it, love it
🍗 Chicken Shawarma Pita - ₱220: Shish tawook, a popular skewered chicken dish in the Middle East, boneless and juicy. Comes with two kubos/pita, and is served with french fries and garlic sauce. The idea is that you make your own or build your own shawarma wrap with it.

🫓 Hummus with 2 pcs Pita - ₱130: A best seller for a reason, the hummus is rich in umami with hints of spice. Best paired with their piping hot pita, you will definitely order another one. Southie Donna's personal pick for her list of the best hummus in the South!

PRO-TIPS & FUN FACTS:
📌 Chicken is a bestseller, not only at Shawarmanila but in the Middle East as well.
📌 Their garlic sauce is legit! Made of pure garlic and seasonings: no mayo, yogurt, or sour cream involved. (Colgate and Dracula fear this sauce. Haha!)
📌 Some places may serve Shawarma, etc. but there’s a distinct difference from Persian/Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine.
📌 The OG Middle Eastern/Arabic Shawarma comes with fries and meat, not with veggies like tomatoes, onions, etc. It doesn’t come with cheese as well.
📌 Kabsa Rice differs from Biryani, but uses the same type of rice.
📌 The Yogurt Shake is so good, has the perfect balance of sweetness and sour, and is a great palate cleanser.
📌 While they don’t serve beers, you can bring your beer on your visit!
📌 Ready for take away, you can easily heat it with the pan.

SOUTHIE CHEZ: Overall, would I be back? Yes. If not personally, I’d order them via GrabFood. Would I recommend it to other people? I already did. Haha! But yes, would recommend to all kinds of foodies: those who want to explore authentic Arabic Cuisine, those who already like Pinoy-style Shawarma but want to get mind-blown by what real shawarma tastes like, and the regular ones who love trying good food.
